Operations and Maintenance

The sustainability and long-term benefits of an infrastructure project for its impacted community, region or country is dependent on appropriate and sufficient operations and maintenance (O&M) long after construction crews have completed their work. The Louis Berger Group understands the critical mission of providing such O&M services, and we provide turn-key, multidisciplinary operations and maintenance and facilities support services, leveraging our proven in-house expertise in areas such as buildings and facilities, highways and bridges, ports, airports, water and power. LBG’s experts assist our clients with long-term planning and management of O&M programs. We assist our clients with annual maintenance, minor and major repairs required to maintain the quality of a real property asset through its expected service life; such assistance may range from preventative maintenance to scheduled repair to roof or heating system replacements. Additionally, LBG’s restoration experts conduct repair and replacement work to restore old facilities or those damaged by natural disaster, fire, accident or other causes to their previous conditions. LBG also has extensive experience assisting our clients with modernization efforts to alter existing facilities to implement new or higher standards, often due to changes in laws or regulations; to accommodate new functions, or to replace major building components that typically last more than 50 years, such as foundations. Not only does LBG provide O&M services for our clients’ existing assets, but we also integrate this expertise into our own programs and projects. For example, we have constructed prime power plants at three U.S. military bases in Iraq for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and are currently operating and maintaining those plants 24 hours a day, seven days per week. When operating in post-conflict or fragile states, LBG has successfully worked with our clients to build O&M training into infrastructure programs. We work with the local governments, private sector and NGOs, and our local employees to provide training in the establishment and management of an O&M program and in the technical skills required to successfully operate and maintain a variety of infrastructure types.
