The Louis Berger Group’s approach to sustainability addresses the economic, environmental and social impacts of development – both physical and economic – to ensure that the progress we make in society today does not negatively affect our natural resources or societal well-being tomorrow. LBG’s sustainability practice rests on two key concepts: global sustainability and integrated sustainability. Because of our long history of operating worldwide, in various cultures and economic systems, we have developed a practice that ensures a community’s or country’s sustainability strategy is consistent with its local context and can be successfully implemented and maintained within the existing legal and socio-economic systems. LBG’s multidisciplinary experience provides wide-ranging expertise in green transportation, greenhouse gas reduction strategies, green buildings, eco-restoration, energy technologies urban design, operations and maintenance and capacity building. We integrate environmental and engineering solutions with economic analysis. Our sustainability work ranges from program management for the construction of the landmark carbon-neutral Masdar Headquarters Building in the United Arab Emirates to developing an energy efficiency and conservation strategy for St. Louis County, Missouri to providing extensive training for the Government of Southern Sudan and local contractors to ensure they are able to operate and maintain their roads long after U.S.-funded programs have ended. LBG’s staff includes energy specialists, economists and market researchers, LEED-accredited professionals in the fields of architecture and urban design, land-use and transportation planners, environmental scientists, civil, waste, water and environmental engineers.
