The Louis Berger Group has proven experience providing former combatants and residents of communities in which they reside economic opportunities, initially through the development of income-generating small infrastructure projects, and eventually through the creation and support of micro and small entrepreneurship in sustainable markets. In the Philippines, LBG is providing economic development expertise through USAID’s Growth With Equity in Mindanao and sister Livelihood Enhancement and Peace projects. The Program has been USAID’s flagship activity in Mindanao since 1995. It continues and expands on the work carried out under Growth with Equity in Mindanao Program 1 (1995–2002) and Growth with Equity in Mindanao Program 2 (2002–2007), working with producer associations, cooperatives, provincial and local governments, and other organizations and individuals to accelerate economic growth and help consolidate peace in the Mindanao region through infrastructure development, workforce preparation, business growth, governance improvement and former combatant reintegration.
