The Government of Andhra Pradesh, India, through the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, now Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, is constructing a 158-kilometer Hyderabad Outer Ring Road around Hyderabad city in southeast India. Phase II A of this project aims to develop the stretches of roadway from Narsingi to Patancheru and from Pedda Amberpet to Shamshabad. These roads will be constructed by private developers and concessionaires on a build-operate-transfer annuity basis.
The Louis Berger Group is supporting the HMDA as an independent engineer for the Pedda Amberpet to Shamshabad segment, which is being constructed as an eight-lane, access-controlled expressway with two-lane service roads on each side of the main carriageway. The expressway will also include high embankments with reinforced earth walls, interchanges at major road crossings, bridges across streams, culverts, and underpasses and overpasses, in addition to longitudinal service ducts along the road and across predefined sections. As independent consultant, we are responsible for monitoring the project’s compliance with technical specifications and standards and managing the schedule and budget. We monitor the construction progress and provide quality assurance control. On behalf of HMDA, we review all activities associated with the design, construction, and operations and maintenance of the project in addition to ensuring compliance with the concession agreement.
