Overview

The U.S. Asia Environmental Partnership, a public-private initiative, focused on promoting sustainable development through the implementation of sound environmental management and cleaner production practices and policies in urban and industrial settings in 11 Asian countries. As the U.S. Agency for International Development’s implementing partner, The Louis Berger Group worked closely with government, industry, and nongovernmental organizations in India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. We provided technical assistance to program management, industrial environmental management, and urban development initiatives. We also conducted research on priority technical, policy, and strategic issues and then conducted seminars and workshops and published papers to share this information with key stakeholders. In addition to providing technical advice to US-AEP and the USAID bureaus and overseas missions, we conducted training for host-country decision makers and technical personnel in the design and implementation of policy and institutional reforms. We also assisted USAID with the management of a $100,000 grants program focused on strengthening the institutions of Asian organizations.
