The Gateway at Easton Avenue is a proposed mixed-use structure that includes commercial and residential spaces that will link the Rutgers University Campus at College Avenue, the central route through campus, and the revitalized downtown area in New Brunswick, NJ. The Louis Berger Group is supporting our client with civil and site engineering for the redevelopment project, beginning at the concept development and mapping through the design, permitting and construction. The new development is designed as a gateway to downtown and the Rutgers campus, providing a highly desirable environment and favorable first impression of both. It also includes a pedestrian bridge that links the proposed site and College Avenue to the existing NJTransit Rail Station. The design extends the railroad station through the site to a new and improved College Avenue. The redevelopment will also include more than 500 new parking spaces and a new residential building with more than 200 units, both of which were designed not to compromise the existing aesthetics of the original Rutgers campus or the nearby St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.
