2010 Environmental Business Journal Project Merit Award
Louis Berger won a 2010 Environmental Business Journal Project Merit Award for the Lincoln Park Wetland Restoration project in Hudson County, New Jersey. The project was implemented in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The tidal marsh was originally designed to offset damage from a 1990 oil spill in the Arthur Kill channel. Louis Berger restored 42 acres of wetland, stream and salt marsh habitat to the Hackensack River, providing new habitats for several birds and fish and providing coastline support against climate change. The restoration project exemplifies waterfront brownfields redevelopment and beneficial public use of natural resources.
