Route 1 South Brunswick drainage improvements

Louis Berger’s New Jersey Route 1 South Brunswick Drainage Improvements project was recognized with an Engineering Excellence Distinguished award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New Jersey.

The NJ Route 1 South Brunswick Drainage Improvements project corrected a flooding condition at the intersection of Route 1 and Wynwood Drive in South Bunswick Township, New Jersey. Louis Berger analyzed existing hydraulics using sophisticated stormwater modeling techniques and extensive research and field investigations to identify environmental constraints. Extensive use of Subsurface Utility Engineering techniques were used to map existing utilities accurately. Louis Berger’s proposed drainage system was designed to increased the capacity of the drainage system and completely avoid the need for utility relocation.

The ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards celebrate the most outstanding project achievements in the field of engineering around the world. Projects are judged based on originality, innovation, value to the public and the engineering profession, complexity, social and economic considerations, sustainability, and exceeding client needs.
