Louis Berger was recognized with the Glass Hammer Award by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) for innovative efforts to promote women leaders through the Women at Louis Berger (WLB) committee. This award is given to a company that has successfully demonstrated programs and activities that promoting women leaders within their organization, and was presented as part of the 2015 Women Leaders in Transportation Design and Construction Awards program.
WLB was recognized as a major tool in helping Louis Berger develop, attract and retain women leaders; promote educational opportunities for career advancement; champion management models to build equity; and encourage a healthy work-life balance. WLB was expanded worldwide following a grassroots movement to include all of Louis Berger, including its International and Services operations as well as Ammann & Whitney, a subsidiary. WLB has nearly 100 members across regions, market sectors and service lines serving in several sub-committees such as communications, succession planning, data analysis and event logistics. WLB’s four aims include ensuring greater transparency, fostering professional development, exchanging and adopting best practices, and inspiring others.
The Women Leaders in Transportation Design and Construction Awards program honors the extraordinary efforts of individuals, companies and public agencies that demonstrate leadership and innovation in the transportation field, as well as the promotion of women leaders.
ARTBA advocates for strong investment in the U.S. transportation design and construction industry. The Women Leaders Council within ARTBA promotes leadership and career advancement for professional women through networking, mentoring, recognition and educational activities.
