The New York State Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR) presented the “Best Inclusion of Vulnerable Populations” Rising to the Top Award to the New York Rising Community Reconstruction Plan for Gravesend and Bensonhurst.
Louis Berger helped develop the Gravesend-Bensonhurst New York Rising Community Reconstruction Plan, which provides an integrated approach to flood management and resilience for the community. The award recognizes the community’s and Louis Berger’s exemplary recovery and resiliency efforts to formulate actionable strategies that would mitigate the impacts of future extreme weather events.
The Rising to the Top award program was established in 2014 to highlight the State of New York’s recovery projects that aim to promote innovation, establish collaboration and provide effective outreach for the state’s most vulnerable populations.
The Community Reconstruction Program was launched in April 2013 by GOSR, as a bottom-up planning and implementation process to advance resiliency efforts and rebuild communities affected by Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
