The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New Jersey recognized Louis Berger with a 2018 Engineering Excellence Distinguished Award for the Route 29 Lockatong Creek to Delaware and Raritan (D&R) Canal State Park project.

Paralleling the D&R Canal State Park and located in an environmentally sensitive area along the Delaware River, two road segments in the townships of Delaware and Kingwood in Hunterdon County, N.J., required environmentally conscious rehabilitation on a limited timeline. To improve the service life of the road, Louis Berger’s scope of work consisted of milling and resurfacing the pavement, upgrading the existing guiderail, and regrading berm areas for safety and drainage.

The ACECNJ Engineering Excellence Awards celebrate the most outstanding project achievements in the field of engineering around the world. Projects are judged based on originality, innovation, value to the public and the engineering profession, complexity, social and economic considerations, sustainability, and exceeding client needs. Projects that are winners at state level are eligible for ACEC's national Engineering Excellence Awards competition.
