MORRISTOWN, N.J.—The Louis Berger Group, Inc. (Louis Berger) has started work on a new economic corridor highway project designed to improve travel and promote economic development in Jamaica. Louis Berger is providing program and construction management for the North-South Highway project, a $740 million investment in new transportation infrastructure in Jamaica.

"We are pleased to offer our expertise managing large construction programs to the development of a corridor that will link the north and south regions of Jamaica and improve and sustain local economies through transportation,” said Tom Lewis, Louis Berger group vice president of U.S. Operations.

The North-South Highway project includes the construction of a two-way, four-lane expressway spanning 68 kilometers that will provide the most efficient travel route between vital economic centers in the north-south regions.

Louis Berger’s resident staff will provide quality oversight of project design, engineering and construction to ensure compliance with Jamaican regulations and international standards.

The project is anticipated to boost tourism and commercial trade by improving service level and transport ability along the corridor.

Through the duration of the project, Louis Berger will ensure the project is delivered to specifications within the project schedule and budget. Construction is expected to be completed in 2016.
