MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Charles Bell, group vice president in charge of Louis Berger’s integrated development practice, has been appointed to the advisory board for Duke University’s Kenan Institute for Ethics. The institute is one of seven interdisciplinary centers at Duke University committed to promoting moral reflection and commitment, conducting research, and shaping policy and practice.
“I am both honored and excited to have this opportunity,” Bell said. “And I am looking forward to bringing the perspective of international development to an organization dedicated to analysis, debate and engagement on ethical issues that affect communities worldwide.”
In recent years, the institute has focused on issues such as global migration, human rights, regulation, moral attitudes and decision making, as well as religious and public life. The advisory board provides advice, assistance and leadership to the institute in matters related to its programs, projects and priorities. It consists of distinguished business leaders, academics, journalists and philanthropists.
Bell has more than 25 years of experience in international development, strategic planning and program management, and has worked in more than 40 countries. He oversees a portfolio of projects related to trade and investment, microfinance, small/medium enterprise development, agriculture and food security, and democracy and governance.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from Duke University, and received his Master of Business Administration in international business from Columbia University.
