MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Berger Group Holdings (Louis Berger) presented donations to the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan relief fund last month. In total, the firm donated $35,848 in employee donations and corporate matching.
“Disaster relief is a key tenet of our business and our corporate social responsibility program,” Thomas G. Lewis, president of The Louis Berger Group, Louis Berger’s U.S.-based operating company, said during the presentation ceremony. “More importantly, Louis Berger has a long-standing presence in the Philippines dating back to 1972, so it was important for us to help those affected in the communities with which we have worked for decades.”
As part of its corporate social responsibility program, Louis Berger sponsors an annual employee giving campaign to raise contributions for a selected organization whose mission reflects the firm's vision and values. In light of the devastation caused to the Philippines last November, Louis Berger selected the Red Cross/Red Crescent Typhoon Appeal as one of two organizations. This year, the campaign also included the participation of Louis Berger International. Along with Typhoon Appeal, Louis Berger also raised $21,340 for the Fisher House Foundation, which provides free or low-cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers.
Louis Berger supported the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao program, which has reintegrated more than 28,000 former war combatants and serves as a model for commercial enterprise development.
