MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Louis Berger was recently awarded a $4 million contract from SBI International Holdings AG and Ci Grodco S. En C.A. Ingenieros Civiles to develop final designs, conduct environmental impact assessments and provide technical support during the construction phase of the Cundinamarca perimeter corridor.
“This win elevates our public-private partnership (P3) portfolio, which along with Louis Berger’s other advances in design-build project delivery, has grown Louis Berger’s presence in the emerging market for alternative delivery worldwide,” said Sofia Berger, Louis Berger vice president and managing director for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The project, included in the ambitious governmental program “Fourth Generation of Road Concessions (4G),” provides a north-south perimeter highway to the east of Bogotá that will alleviate traffic congestion within Colombia’s capital city. The new corridor will not only increase mobility and reduce travel time between the cities located to the north and south of Bogotá, but also between Bogotá and Los Llanos, contributing to the tourism and agricultural potential of the region. The routes included in the project have a total length of 153.87 km and cross the Department of Cundinamarca.
Louis Berger´s services include civil design works (alignment, utilities, traffic, drainage, lighting, irrigation, bridges, landscape, toll plazas, weight control stations and others) and pavement structural design for road construction. The services will be developed in three packages:
- Package 1: Studies, detailed and final designs
- Package 2: Planning, processing and obtaining the approval of environmental impact assessments (EIA) and/or environmental assessment of alternatives, and ensuring all EIA documents are in compliance with Colombia environmental standards
- Package 3: Technical support during the construction phase
