WASHINGTON, DC – The Louis Berger Group is pleased to announce that Ken Kost, RLA, LEED Green Associate, has joined its Washington, DC office as vice president and director of federal facilities planning. Kost brings more than 30 years of experience in planning and landscape architecture particularly with the federal government.
Kost comes to LBG from PBS&J where he managed the PBS&J/Berger Joint Venture’s contract for U.S. Navy planning projects in the National Capital Region. He is an industry leader in the application of building information modeling and geographic information systems for federal facilities planning. Using such technologies, Kost has developed processes that streamline military planning charrettes and reduce decision-making timelines.
Kost served as program manager for the Fort Belvoir, VA master plan to accommodate for approximately 19,000 additional military and civilian personnel relocating to the base. The relocation to Fort Belvoir, requiring more than $6 billion of construction, is the largest project being undertaken as a result of the Defense Base Realignment and Closure process. Kost also led the development of the U.S. Army’s Master Planning Technical Manual, which provides direction to the planning process for Army bases worldwide.
