WASHINGTON, DC—The Louis Berger Group recently opened an office in Galveston, Texas to better support the needs of the growing, hurricane-prone region. LBG professionals have been in Galveston since responding to Hurricane Ike in 2008, but the permanent office will support the recurring need for coastal cleanup and disaster recovery efforts in the Gulf Region and expand LBG’s services to support a variety of infrastructure and building projects. In conjunction with the firm’s New Orleans office, the Galveston office will assist current and future disaster recovery operations, but also provide our clients with access to multidisciplinary expertise, including coastal and waterfront engineering, among several engineering disciplines; architecture; planning; environmental science; and construction and program management.
The office building, at 2417 Strand Street, is a historical site, owned and managed by, the Galveston Historical Foundation. In Galveston, LBG worked on the Galveston Park Board’s Hurricane Ike Disaster Recovery Program, providing technical consulting and project management support to the GPB for its FEMA Public Assistance Program and recovery activities including cleanup, restoration, and recovery planning. This office, the twenty-eighth LBG office in the United States and the second in Texas, will expand the footprint of the firm’s U.S. Operations.
