The objective of the project was to support Romania’s economic development and improve trade opportunities within the larger European Union.

In addition to the economic advantages from improved commercial transportation, the highway led to reduced travel times and fuel savings, better passenger safety and important environmental safeguards. The motorway also increased traffic capacity in the City of Timisoara and between Timisoara and Lugoj, an area encompassing 12 additional villages.
