U.S. air base in southern Spain counts on Louis Berger

Naval Station Rota is a strategic U.S. Navy and Air Mobility Command  base on the Mediterranean Sea in southern Spain. It supports the U.S. fleet in the Mediterranean and AMC forces en route to Europe and southwest Asia.

As a busy travel destination and transfer point for the Navy and the AMC, the base demands efficient air terminal ground handling services.

Under a contract with the U.S. Transportation Command, Louis Berger provides a full spectrum of ground handling services at Naval Station Rota. Louis Berger’s duties include air terminal operations, load planning, special handling of hazardous cargo, joint inspection, transient aircraft services, flight line sweeping and passenger baggage handling.

Louis Berger’s management at the base counts many successes, including:

  • Effectively operating a U.S. air terminal in a foreign country with a national union work force.
  • Hiring an air terminal ground manager uniquely skilled in working with union and base leadership so all parties are satisfied.
  • Assisting the local community by hiring nearly 200 area people.
  • Achieving Navy goals of saving money through precise management practices.
