Red Bull Arena & Training Facility | Harrison and Hanover, NJ, US
The New York Red Bulls are a U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS) team and one of the league’s 10 original franchises, founded in 1997. Based in New Jersey, the team draws more than 600,000 fans yearly and is the only MLS team in the New York area.
The Red Bulls needed an arena built for soccer, having played for years in a National Football League stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex. The Red Bulls also wanted a training complex that included practice fields and a new team headquarters.
The Red Bulls retained Louis Berger to assist in the development of an arena in Harrison, N.J., and a training complex in Hanover, N.J. Louis Berger served as owner’s representative, prepared project cost estimates, reviewed design and construction documents, and managed environmental remediation.
Red Bull Arena opened in March 2010 before a sellout crowd of more than 25,000. The Red Bulls Training Facility opened in June 2013. Project features include:
- Translucent partial arena roof that covers upper and lower bowl seating.
- 30 private arena suites on two levels, shops, concession areas and the latest in audio–visual technology.
- A training center with full-sized practice fields, team offices and a one-story field house.
